Working with ASIP
The American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP) is a society of basic and clinical biomedical scientists who investigate mechanisms of disease. As a member of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, a coalition of 22 independent societies, ASIP plays an active role in assisting to support and lobby for the interests of 84,000 biomedical scientists from 35 different countries. In addition, ASIP manages seven different societies of similar interest, including: the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories and the Association for Pathology Informatics.
ASIP prides itself in its goals of furthering the field of investigative pathology and nurturing the professional advancement of its members’ education and development. In turn, its member scientists are dedicated to the use of various structural, functional, and genetic techniques to research the origins and mechanisms of a disease. This research is then ultimately used to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of particular pathogens.
As a growing society that manages thousands of member records under seven different branches, ASIP conducted its business of membership and data management through several databases of information, often causing a decrease in staff efficiency and an increase in time needed to accomplish basic management tasks. As a result, ASIP developed a need for a new mechanism of enterprise resource management that would simplify its management process. With various societies to manage, ASIP demanded a solution that would meet its needs of integration while providing staff with an efficient method to best manage its societies and its members.
Euclid Technology’s flagship software, ClearVantage, proved to be the right choice for ASIP’s growing business. “Many of the other systems that we looked at required us to purchase and ad on many of the management modules that our organization and most associations need the most,” said ASIP’s Director of Meeting and Membership Services, Tara Snethen. “One of the things that we enjoy about ClearVantage is its ability to service many of our needs without customization to the original software—especially with the multiple organizations that we manage.”
After signing with ASIP, Euclid quickly went to work with the company to put the ClearVantage software into operation. With ClearVantage, ASIP is able to control every aspect of its member events, generate various committees for award recipients, and create time-saving reports meant to better communicate with their members—features that, before ClearVantage, were either not available through one system or created less efficient processes for ASIP employees.
“Overall, we are very happy with the system’s intuitive feel and easy navigation,” stated Snethen. “Before turning to Euclid, we had to access various programs to access basic member information. Now that information is centralized through ClearVantage, members are able to seamlessly update their profiles, register for events, and pay dues through the web while giving our staff real-time access to this information.”
