New ClearVantage 7 S is Designed For Speed

Euclid Technology, a member of the prestigious Inc 5000 List and a leading provider of association management software (AMS), has announced the release of its latest software innovation: ClearVantage 7 S – a new, faster version of ClearVantage 7 that has been optimized to provide outstanding responsiveness, regardless of whether clients are logged in remotely or host the system onsite.
The major challenge that CV7 S addresses is Internet latency – or the time that it takes to complete a roundtrip call (regardless of how much data is being passed) from the user’s machine to the server and then back to the user’s machine. Such latency can increase lag times, particularly for those clients who log in remotely. Euclid’s President and CEO, Charlie Vinal, explains Internet latency in a non-technical way: “Your broadband capacity is like a tractor trailer – the more ‘megabytes per second,’ the bigger the trailer. Latency is like the road that the truck travels on. Overall performance is determined just as much (or more) by the roads (latency) than by the size of the container. If the tractor trailer has to take a lot of bumpy roads, some cargo may be lost and the trip will take a long time.”
CV7 S addresses Internet latency with three new innovations: (1) the first is server-side and client-side caching, which minimizes the requests going between the ClearVantage Desktop and the ClearVantage Application Server; (2) the second deals with how data is sent between the ClearVantage Desktop and the Application server (i.e., when a request is now made, the requests are compressed and bundled by the server before they are sent to the client); and (3) the third innovation is background threading. This allows requests to be run in a separate thread (so instead of there being a lag while data is being requested and returned, the user can continue to work as the request is being processed).
“The bottom line is that users will notice a significant increase in performance and a reduction in lag time with CV7 S. In fact, CV7 S improves performance so much that one might not be able to tell the difference when working on a local connection or working remotely. Our clients have already begun to deploy this new version of ClearVantage, and they are delighted with the results,” notes Vinal.
