Working with the Medical Society of Delaware

Established in 1789, the Medical Society of Delaware (MSD) is the third oldest society of its kind in the United States. Although much has changed in the medical profession since the Society’s inception, the principle upon which this society of physicians was founded has remained steadfast: to further the ideals of the medical profession, thereby enhancing the health and well being of the citizens of Delaware. Today, members depend on MSD for education, advocacy and representation.

In supporting its membership, MSD provides many of the services and functions common among all associations, such as managing membership, events, and publications for the Society. MSD also manages specialty and county societies across Delaware (including dues billing), and is responsible for tracking member participation in numerous committees. Over time, supporting these activities had become increasingly complicated and time consuming.

In order to continue to provide high-level service to its membership, MSD realized it needed to make an investment in technology. Specifically, MSD needed a solution that would not only provide standard association management functionality, but also help streamline business processes across multiple departments, chapters, and various subsidiaries and provide the flexibility to bill complex dues structures. In addition to expected efficiency gains and overall time savings, MSD needed to show a fast and real return on investment (ROI).

Lastly, given the sensitive nature of the physician information maintained by the Society, it was critical that this solution provide a completely secure environment and maintain “user access rights.” MSD needed to be able to control what information within the company was public and what remained private, only allowing access to authorized users.

After evaluating prospective vendors, both large and small, MSD selected Euclid Technology’s ClearVantage 6.0, an association management software (AMS) package that provides all the functionality MSD needed to manage membership, credentialing, specialty societies, events, publications, and more. This powerful software offered MSD a single solution to support its complex and vast workload.

As it does with every client, Euclid entered into a project partnership with MSD that utilized Euclid’s SystemOne implementation methodology. This methodology allowed Euclid to analyze MSD’s organizational challenges and redesign specific businesses processes to meet MSD’s objectives. Euclid then configured ClearVantage to meet the unique needs of the organization.

In the past, the complexity and cost of building and maintaining customized systems made it nearly impossible for medical associations to effectively track relevant data from a single system. Now, thanks to ClearVantage, MSD has been able to streamline its business processes, providing the Society with more time to focus on serving its membership, increasing revenue, and developing additional lines of business.
